Boston, April 10, 2023 – In support of Earth Day and in recognition of Pioneer Fund’s 95th anniversary, Amundi US is donating 95 trees to the City of Lynn, Massachusetts and hosting a Tree Planting Ceremony at Red Rock Park on Saturday, April 22, at 12:30 p.m.
The founder of Amundi US, Philip L. Carret, was a former Lynn resident and visionary investor who focused on identifying sustainable companies that would endure over the long term. Amundi US, based in Boston since 1928, is donating 95 trees to Lynn on the occasion of the 95th anniversary of the mutual fund Carret founded, Pioneer Fund, in memory of his legacy, and in the hope that the trees will benefit the local environment for generations to come.
The trees, generally between 6 and 10 feet tall, will be selected and planted based on needs as determined by the City of Lynn. Amundi US’s donation will help supply trees to the over 60 Lynn residents currently on a waitlist to receive a tree. According to the Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation, the addition of trees in urban neighborhoods help lower wind speeds, reduce air temperature and provide direct shade to help reduce energy needs and the cost of heating and cooling homes.
Senior leaders from Amundi US will join with officials from the City of Lynn and the Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation at the event in Red Rock Park where the first of the 95 donated trees will be planted. Lisa Jones, Head of the Americas, President and CEO, and Marco Pirondini, US Head of Equities, will represent Amundi US. Representatives from the City of Lynn will be in attendance. Members of the community are invited to attend.
Lisa Jones, Head of the Americas, President and CEO, Amundi US, said: “I can think of no better way to commemorate the 95th anniversary of Pioneer Fund than to give back to the City of Lynn, the birthplace of Pioneer Fund’s founder, Phil Carret. Mr. Carret’s commitment as both a long term investor and one focused on identifying sustainable companies is part of our legacy today. Our hope is that planting trees in Lynn will support the local environment for generations to come, in memory of the legacy of our remarkable founder, Phil Carret.”
Jared C. Nicholson, Mayor of the City of Lynn, said: “We’re thrilled to be receiving this donation which invests in our community environments and greenspace. These trees will help to beautify our city, build a greener community, and create positive outcomes that are necessary to tackle the climate crisis. We’re also grateful to Amundi’s long-standing mission to promote sustainability in cities like ours.”

A Word About Risk:
The market prices of securities may go up or down, sometimes rapidly or unpredictably, due to general market conditions, such as real or perceived adverse economic, political, or regulatory conditions, recessions, inflation, changes in interest or currency rates, lack of liquidity in the bond markets, the spread of infectious illness or other public health issues or adverse investor sentiment. The Fund generally excludes corporate issuers that do not meet or exceed minimum ESG standards. Excluding specific issuers limits the universe of investments available to the Fund, which may mean forgoing some investment opportunities available to funds without similar ESG standards.
